Our Favourite Romantic Bollywood Moments

Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor in Jab We Met

Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor in Jab We Met

You know that feeling? When you roll out of bed smiling, ready to take on the world? When everything around you is happy, shiny and bright. When you look through rose-tinted glasses and can’t wait to hold hands with your loved one. If you’ve ever been in love, you know exactly what I’m talking about. And if you’ve ever been to the movies on a date, you’ll remember these moments from your favourite Bollywood love stories.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai

If any boy, and in this case, Shah Rukh Khan dances with you in a gazebo, while it’s raining outside, you are going to turn to mush. No? Well, there’s no music but you both know your heart is beating really loudly. I love this scene from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai!

Hum Tum

So, I have to tell you, I’m of ‘marriageable age’ and have actually, physically, gone on these arranged marriage dates. Yup, the cat’s out of the bag. But if I had practised with my former flame and discovered we’re in love, life would be seriously better. Don’t you just love the way this scene from Hum Tum has been arranged?

Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge

This scene is actually Rashmi Daryanani‘s pick. But I think it’s very cute that Shah Rukh Khan (again) believes that if Kajol turns, she likes him. It’s one of those cute superstitions we have when in love. Of course, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge is probably the most iconic love story of our times that has gone on to influence so many more directors.

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

Every time that I have watched Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, I have been immersed. These 2 scenes from the film are different from the usual Bollywood romance and I love what Katrina’s character has to say. And I love how both the characters meet half-way and let go of some of their notions because love is about accommodating the views of your loved one. The scene also highlights how language is not really a barrier when you’re in love.

Love Aaj Kal

I have watched Love Aaj Kal way too many times for my own good. I know it’s not everyone’s favourite Imtiaz Ali film. But I really like it. Through the film, Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone‘s characters break up for practical reasons. But when they get together in the end, with Saif using the same lines as used to break up in the first place, I’m sobbing and the onlookers in the scene are clapping. Despite everything, being with someone you love eventually takes over reason and practicality, etc.

Dil To Pagal Hai

I actually remember watching Dil To Pagal Hai in a single screen old-school theatre the night it released. I remember crying in the movie because I felt so bad for Karishma Kapoor. But when even her character realises that Shah Rukh and Madhuri Dixit are meant to be together, who am I to disagree? Their romance is epic and their chemistry superlative. From the moment he calls her ‘aur paas’ to when Akshay Kumar plays Madhuri’s audio cassette in the end, you know they are ‘meant for each other’.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone dated in real life. When the promo for Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani launched, all anyone could talk about was the line, “Tum samajhte kyun nahi… Mujhe tumse pyaar ho jaayega… Phir se“. My favourite moment from the movie is the final scene when Ranbir walks into Deepika’s house and proposes to her because he’d rather be with her than anywhere else, much to her overwhelmed surprise.

So, these are some of my favourite romantic moments from contemporary Bollywood movies. And as cheesy as it is, the number 7 kind of coincides with the ‘saat janmon’ type ‘pyaar’. Tell us about your favourite moments from the films and if any of the above make it to your list. Signing off with love.

8 Bollywood Heroines Who Would Make the Best Girlfriends

Alia Bhatt

Alia Bhatt

We are all guilty of drawing out the “perfect” partner list at some point in our lives. So Amit Sahni isn’t the only one! And where else can we find what comes closest to perfection than in our very own Bollywood movies? Here is a list of the top 8 characters that we think would make the best girlfriends:

1. Ananya from 2 States:

Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in '2 States'

Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in 2 States

If there exists a perfect blend of the girl you take home to the family and the girl you take to bed, it’s Ananya! She’s smart, fun, sexy and just the right kind of bold! She will attempt to make biryani to impress your mother, make that kickass presentation to impress her boss and still be oh-so-sexy to constantly impress you! Who said jack of all trades must be a master of none?

2. Rani from Queen:

Queen

Kangna Ranaut in Queen

If you thought the small town girl wasn’t your type, think again! This one was no spoiler. She is gutsy, crazy and full of surprises. She is the shy bride and the girl who freaks out when she has to share a room with three guys but she is also the girl who goes for her honeymoon alone and surprises you with that kiss for ‘India’. Yes, she’s not your typical bombshell, but that’s the whole point, right?

3. Shruti Kakkar from Band Baaja Baaraat:

Anushka Sharma

Anushka Sharma in Band Baajaa Baaraat

A girl with a goal. She is the no-hangups kinda girl. When you’re hanging out with her, it’s as comfortable as chilling with the guys. She is the perfect partner to ensure you’ll make the perfect team. She knows what she wants and she will go get it. And how you wish what she wants is you ;)

4. Naina from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani:

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Behind every successful man is a woman. And she is definitely that woman! She’s smart, independent, level-headed and content and she is not one to get you to sacrifice your dreams. You want to travel the world? Go do it! She’s not going to be shedding tears to bog you down. No emotional blackmail? Whaaat? Yes, she’s the dream.

5. Meera from Love Aaj Kal:

Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan in Love Aaj Kal

Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan in Love Aaj Kal

Dating her is like dating the prettiest girl in class. You know once you have won her, you’re ready to put up with everything that comes with the prize. But with this one, there is no bullsh*t! That’s right – she’s easy-going, sexy, fun and everything you’ve ever wanted and so much more! And what’s more is she’s a one-man woman. If only you were that man…

6. Gayatri from Shuddh Desi Romance:

Parineeti Chopra

Parineeti Chopra in Shuddh Desi Romance

She is not going to be nagging you to go down on your knees! Well, at least not with a wedding ring ;) She is confident of herself and secure in the relationship. She likes to seize the day. So if you love to live in the present, away from all the conventions and worries of ‘where this is going?’, then she’s the girl for you.

7. Kavya from Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania:

Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania

Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania

Main toh paida hi hot hooyi thi‘. And boy, is she HOT! She oozes with oomph and is just the girl to turn your world upside down. And just when you think you can cast her off as materialistic, she chooses the adorable guy over the rich, picture perfect one. She is the kind of girl you would effortlessly fall head over heels in love with. We did :)

8. Geet from Jab We Met:

Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor in Jab We Met

Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor in Jab We Met

Office – Home – Repeat. Everyone lives this life but if you’re dating this diva, then your world is a much happier place. Always full of zest, straight out from the movies with a twitch of crazy. Who wants the same old, boring relationship, right?

Leave a comment below and tell us which heroine according to you would make the best girlfriend.

#ThrowbackThursday: 7 Madhuri Dixit Outfits That Made Our Hearts Go Dhak-Dhak!

Madhuri Dixit in Dil To Pagal Hai

Madhuri Dixit in Dil To Pagal Hai

Madhuri Dixit has been the dancing queen of Bollywood ever since her role as Mohini in Tezaab released back in 1988. Even at the age of 47 the diva hasn’t changed at all. The Dhak-Dhak girl still looks as gorgeous as she did back in ’80s, making everyones hearts go dhak-dhak with her desi thumkas and gorgeous outfits. Knowing the fashion girl that I am (this post was definitely on my to-do list), I’ve creatively put together a list of 10 Madhuri Dixit outfits that made our hearts skip a beat.

1.  Dil Toh Pagal Hai

When she made sheer Indian outfits look sexy.

2. Hum Aapke Hain Koun

The purple sari that every Indian girl wished for.

3. Tezaab

The one shouldered blouse and multi-colored slit skirt combo that set the stage on fire.

4. Devdas

The 30kg sari that made our hearts literally skip a beat. Drop-dead-gorgeous!

5. Beta

The dancing queen rocked a sultry look in her dhak dhak karne laga song with a backless choli and a sari which was unconventionally draped setting a new trend.

6. Pukar

Madhuri totally rocked the androgynous style in this song looking kickass.

7. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Even at the age of 35, she drove us crazy with her Ghagra.

Madhuri Dixit you are a bomb. You will always make my heart go dhak-dhak!

10 Reasons Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani Was A Tad Bit Overrated!

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Before killing me, just read the title again, especially the words ‘tad bit’. Basically, my expectations from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani were sky high and why wouldn’t they be? It had Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone romancing each other post break up, it had talented actors like Kalki Koechlin and Aditya Roy Kapur playing supporting roles, it had amazing songs and it’s directed by Ayan Mukerji! Sadly, when I watched the movie I was underwhelmed. Here’s why!

1) Love doesn’t mean giving up everything you stand for.

Ranbir Kapoor

Source: Tumblr.com

My biggest problem with Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani was Bunny suddenly giving up everything he stood for after meeting Naina for the second time! They met like after eight years, if she was such an important factor in his life, he could have at least kept in touch.

2) Taran > Bunny

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Source: Tumblr.com

He should have been the hero of this movie! Aditi and Taran were the couple for whom the hashtag #RelationshipGoals was made.

3) Naina’s ‘transformation’.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Source: Tumblr.com

Honestly, Bunny turns up the charm when he sees Naina like this.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Source: Tumblr.com

He is good to her when she’s the bespectacled nerd too, but all that love and commitment comes into the fray only when she becomes hot AF, know what I mean?

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

4) The sense of entitlement Bunny has over Naina.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Source: Tumblr.com

I mean she’s just talking to Vikram and there he is… threatening to beat up the poor (hot) guy for daring to look at Naina. Let her breathe Bunny, my God!

5) Avi’s underdeveloped character.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Source: Tumblr.com

I mean he had no back story, just one mention of a father who thought he’s a loser. I know one couldn’t add another story if they want a movie to be under 3 hours, but I really thought a talented actor like Aditya Roy Kapur could have had much more to do except drink and mope.

 6) Vikram > Bunny

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Source: YouTube.com

Seriously, anyone was better for Naina than Bunny. And Vikram looks gooooood!

7) Opposites do attract but do they really last?

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Source: Tumblr.com

Naina and Bunny are diametrically opposite. Their cores are different. Do you think they’ll last? It’s good to be with someone who has nothing similar with you for a while, but forever? I have my doubts on that.

8) More Farooq Sheikh was needed.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Source: Tumblr.com

Undoubtedly the best part about this movie was Farooq Sheikh‘s wonderful performance as Bunny’s father.

9) Predictable.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Source: Tumblr.com

As many critics noted, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani looked amazing, but it was so damn predictable! It’s like a pretty girl with no soul.

10) So much talent, such little use!

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Source: Tumblr.com

With a cast as amazing like this – a lot could be done (Read: Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara).

I’m saying it again, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani was quite enjoyable, just not as enjoyable as I thought it would be. What do you think?

Also – Team MissMalini and MissMalini herself LOVE this movie, I walk a lonely road on this topic.

Box Office Q&A: Is 2015 Going To Be Deepika Padukone’s Year Again?

$

Want to know about the films being done by your favourite star? The biggest hit of the season? The release plans for your much awaited film? The box office standing of your favourite heroine? If so, you are at the right place.

Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone

Box Office – Is 2015 going to be Deepika Padukone’s year again? [Kanhaiya – Howrah]

Very likely. The way Piku – an out and out offbeat film – has opened at the box office, one has to give credit to Deepika Padukone for enticing audiences for her films. She is receiving critical acclaim like never before and that’s the kind of perfect stardom any actor would dream for at the beginning of her career. From being a bikini girl in Race 2 to stepping into the fantastical world of Ram Leela to now turning into a young woman next door in Piku; Deepika is proving herself to be an actress par excellence. Moreover, with commercial gains coming in as well, Deepika is indeed peaking superbly in her career.

With over 40 crores pretty much on the cards for Piku, this is just the beginning for Deepika Padukone. She has two very big ticket films lined up for release before the close of year – Tamasha (November) and Bajirao Mastani (December). Former brings her with Ranbir Kapoor (Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani), Imtiaz Ali (Cocktail) and Sajid Nadiadwala (Housefull 2). Latter reunites her with Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra and Sanjay Leela Bhansali (Ram Leela).

Just the credentials are superb enough to ensure that just like 2013 (Race 2, Yeh Jawaan Hai Deewani, Chennai Express, Ram Leela) and 2014 (Finding Fanny, Happy New Year), 2015 will belong to Deepika also.

Just drop in your query (along with the city you belong) at the Twitter handles below and one interesting question would be picked every day to build connect between you and fascinating world of Bollywood. #QOTD @tutejajoginder @missmalini

Priyanka Chopra in Dil Dhadakne Do

Priyanka Chopra in Dil Dhadakne Do

For celebrities, it’s always easy to jet-set off into the sunset, or into the most exotic parts of the world. Most of the time it’s for work, and other times, pleasure, leisure or whatever you’d like to call it. As I sit by my desk trying to think of when the clock strikes 1 pm so I could whip out my lunch box, I also wonder when I’d get to jet-set somewhere myself.

Most of the times, our job gets in the way of life and well, most things. Don’t get me wrong, I adore my job, but hey! There’s no crime in dreaming like we’re movie stars. More than anyone else, the Bollywood team at MissMalini writes articles and posts about all the exotic shoot locations, and family holiday destinations of our favourite celebrities. Which makes them get a little FOMO. So, I asked around and here are a couple of places the Bollywood team would like to be sipping their mimosas and mojitos at:

1. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge – Europe

Shah Rukh Khan might be the reason behind that decision.

7 On-Screen Bollywood Couples Who Won’t Work In Real Life!

$

Bollywood has always given us the best romantic movies. From star-crossed lovers to happy romances to young couples killing themselves because their family disprove of their relationship, movies with a heavy dose of romance always work. But today the Bollywood team sat together to discuss what would really happen after the ‘happy ending’ shown in our films? Would the couple really last after their ‘honeymoon phase’ is over and when reality sets in? Take Ram and Leela for example, they worked because they died. Wouldn’t their brashness and quick temper cause a lot of trouble in their relationship? And what about Nandini and Sameer in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam? She definitely wouldn’t be able to live with Sameer, after Vanraj did so much for her, I’m glad SLB ended the movie the way he did. Know what I mean? So let’s have a look at the on-screen couples of Bollywood who definitely wouldn’t last in real life.

1) Kabir and Naina (Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani)

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Source: Tumblr.com

I know, I know, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is like the best movie ever according to many. Ranbir and Deepika have sexbomb chemistry, songs are amazing, Bunny inspired you to travel. I get it, I really do. But do you think someone as free-spirited as Kabir would be happy with someone as grounded as Naina? Opposites attract, yes they do, and she brings the kind of stability he always needed. But won’t he start resenting her once their honeymoon phase is over? I think he will.

2) Gautam and Meera (Cocktail)

Diana Penty, Saif Ali Khan

Source: Tumblr.com

He’s totes gonna cheat on her. An ass like Gautam doesn’t deserve Meera nor Veronica. I’ve written an entire blog about it.

3) Tanu and Manu (Tanu Weds Manu)

Tanu Weds Manu Returns

Tanu Weds Manu Returns

They needed marriage counselling in the sequel, they’ll definitely be going through divorce proceedings in the third. Tanu and Manu are dysfunctional and after a point Tanu will get bored again and Manu will regret losing out on Datto.

4) Raj and Sonia (Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai)

Kaho Na Pyaar Hai

Kaho Na Pyaar Hai

Listen, Sonia ended up with Raj just because he looked exactly like the love of her life, Rohit. This is the creepiest reason to be with someone.

5) Raja and Aarti (Raja Hindustani)

Karisma and Aamir

Source: YouTube.com

The love between Raja and Aarti was pure, I’m sure. But let’s not forget that Aarti came from a super-rich family, and Raja was after all, a taxi driver. I know love conquers all, but how do you pay the bills, especially when the wife is used to a particular lifestyle? On top of that, they also have a child and raising one is super expensive.

6) Jay and Simran (I Hate Luv Storys)

Imran Khan, Sonam Kapoor

Imran Khan, Sonam Kapoor | Source: tumblr.com

I don’t know man, maybe I have a problem with the spelling of ‘luv’ and ‘storys’ or maybe Jay and Simran really won’t last. Opposites do attract, but to they sustain? I really don’t think so.

7) Lucky and Sanjana (Main Hoon Na)

Zayed Khan and Amrita Rao

Source: YouTube.com

Firstly, Lucky doesn’t deserve someone as smart as Sanjana. Most importantly, he fell in love with her only post her make-over done by Chandni. That’s not true love yo!

14 Of Our Favourite Bollywood Proposals Of All Times!

$

Ranbir & Deepika, Ranveer and Anushka

Ranbir & Deepika, Ranveer and Anushka

Bollywood has played such an important part in our weddings right? From the songs, to the costumes, to the ‘look’, most of us take inspiration from our Hindi movies. Weirdly though, proposals from our favourite movies have never really been acknowledged, have they? That’s why lets talk about the best proposal scenes from Bollywood. In this day and age, they’re as important as the perfect wedding!

1) When Madhavan proposes to Soha before going for his ill-fated mission

Just thinking about Rang De Basanti makes me emotional. This film had so many brilliant scenes, one of them is when Madhavan asks Soha to marry him and of course, the whole gang starts singing ‘Ajay ki ho gayi waah bhai waah‘ because they’re all such good friends. This is a few scenes before Madhavan goes for his ill-fated mission and dies. I want to cry now.

2) When Aamir Khan decided to tell Preity Zinta that he loves her, at her own wedding.

Aamir Khan‘s Akash was a lot of things, a romantic wasn’t one of them. It’s Preity Zinta‘s Shalini that brings out Akash’s sensitive side, something he always mocked his friends for. This proposal was even more special as he does it during Shalini’s engagement, in front of her fiance. Just like he asked her out back in college, yes, in front of her fiance.

3) When Rohit proposes to Naina and we hoped it was Aman but it didn’t matter because we love Rohit too

You know what’s the best part? Rohit knows Naina loves Aman, but he still asks her to have faith. He knows his feelings for Naina are strong enough for the both of them, till she finds it in herself to fall in love with Rohit. Be still, my beating heart.

4) When Jay tells Simran how much he loves her, but she says no because she loves him too much

It’s perfect, the setting, the music and the man. Jay is all about passion and heart, but Simran refuses. I might not be a fan of the movie, but this scene is one of the good ones. Simran explains how she loved Jay but he didn’t feel the same way for her, and she can’t afford to put herself through those emotions again because she’ll break. Obviously, the two eventually end up together but this was one of the realist reaction I’ve seen in a movie.

5) When Trisha decided to propose to Sid

Pyaar Ke Side Effects

Pyaar Ke Side Effects

Girls don’t usually propose to their boyfriends, but Mallika Sherawat changed the norm in Pyaar Ke Side Effects. The movie was a refreshing change in many ways and this scene was one of the things that made it so different.

6) When Kabir decides to leave it all for Naina

I have a problem with the love story of Kabir and Naina in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, but no can deny how sweet this scene is. Bunny finally tells Naina how important she is, important enough to leave all his dreams behind and be with her forever. The scene is even better because Ranbir and Deepika have such amazing chemistry.

7) When Jai sings Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na at the airport to stop Aditi

He’s just a boy, escaping prison, riding a horse and breaking airport rules to tell his girl that they’re meant to be. No big deal.

8) When Raj lights up Tani’s life

Surinder and Raj are the same person, while one is doing all the work, the other is the one who knows how to present it. This scene basically shows that every girl needs a guy who has a little bit of both. You know, Surinder on the streets and Raj in the sheets.

9) When Veeru didn’t kill himself because Basanti said yes!

Getting drunk and jumping off a tank is a sure shot way of getting someone to say yes. Or maybe he wouldn’t have to do that had Jai not done this –

(Best scene from the movie though)

10) When Aaliya decided to go down on her knees

Break Ke Baad had many faults, but Deepika‘s Aaliya and Imran’s Abhay had a certain charm to them which no one could miss. This scene is proof how Aaliya finally grows up and realizes her love for the man who’s always there for her.

11) When Arjun tells Zoya about his love for her

We don’t often see Emraan Khan in a romantic role, maybe that’s why this proposal is so special.

12) When (another) Arjun bares his soul in front of Aisha

Aisha

Aisha

Aisha and Arjun were always going to end up together, it was just so much fun to see how they’d eventually realize how perfect they are for each other.

13) When Bittoo tells Shruti’s fiance to ‘kat le’

Because Bittoo + Shruti forever!

14) When Raj wants to marry Gayatri but she isn’t too convinced

She does go to him eventually. How many guys will sit and light so many candles for you anyway?! Except when you’re Deepika Padukone, then you might get used to it.

Do you have a favourite amongst them? Or some scene I didn’t add? Let me know how you’d like to propose or be proposed in the comments below!

Manish Malhotra Summer/Resort ’16

When we talk about Manish Malhotra, the picture that pops into our minds are the stunning lehengas he designs, his breathtaking runway shows, and his strong Instagram game. But we seldom think of him as a stylist who has curated some of the most iconic looks for equally iconic Bollywood dance numbers. From Alia Bhatt’s ombre lehenga in Radha from Student Of The Year to Kareena Kapoor‘s sharara in Bole Chudiya from Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham and more, Manish Malhotra has shown us what true Bollywood style really is.

Here are some of our favorites:

7 Bollywood Movies That Are Sure To Give You Major Travel FOMO

A picture like this from Alia Bhatt’s Instagram is making us itch to plan a trip to Bulgaria. Can you then imagine what watching a full-length movie will do to us?

There are movies that make you laugh and there are movies that make you cry. Then there are those that give you that extra push to pack your bags and finally go on that trip you’ve been postponing ever since you started your 9-6 job.

With Bollywood having nailed the process of making our favourite stars run, dance or stroll around paddy fields from Punjab to Switzerland ever since Sangam (It’s the first film to be shot abroad!), it’s no amateur when it comes to setting some serious #TravelGoals.

So here are some movies that are sure to inspire you to join the globetrotter club:

Tamasha

Deepika and Ranbir shooting for Tamasha | Source: Twitter |

Tamasha sparked everyone’s ‘go anywhere, do anything’ fantasy, making it the ‘anywhere’ that everyone wants to be at. Each frame in this film is like a post-card, which made it the oh-so-perfect first time meet for Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone’s characters. The movie shows most of the Mediterranean island in its true glory- from its mountainous city streets and dense forests to glistening blue waters and rugged peaks. Add the scenic glory to the sizzling chemistry between Ved and Tara (Legit two strangers that meet in Corsica)… uff! I’m not packing my bags, are you? Okay…I may have considered buying a one-way ticket to Corsica.

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara made sure WE went along on a road trip around Spain with Arjun, Kabir, and Imraan too. Like any other quit-the-concrete-jungle-and-go-travel sort of movies, ZNMD had its share of picture-perfect locations alright, but what set this multi-starrer apart is the experience that the movie takes us through. Deep sea diving, skydiving, the Tomatino festival and the Bull Run – do you need anything more to pack your bags and go on an adventure trip of a lifetime?

Queen

Queen

Other than Kangana Ranaut’s amazing portrayal of Rani, Queen takes us on a journey across Paris and Amsterdam. Not only did Rani spark a traveler in every young Indian woman, it made traveling solo less of a big deal for us too! The movie sure teaches you that there’s more to life than finding a life partner – like traveling, meeting new people and experiencing new cultures. Who wouldn’t want to bump into a Vijaylakshmi in Paris or share a room with Taka, Tim, and Oleksander in Amsterdam? Count me in!

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Aside from the breathtaking scenes in Gulmarg, Europe and Udaipur, how many of you LOVED Bunny’s travel scrapbook? *Flailing my hands in the air*. Bunny’s ‘book of dreams’ is all sorts of #TravelScrapbookGoals, in fact, Ranbir’s character is a globetrotter in the true sense. His job profile in the film doesn’t hurt either, making it completely cool to travel around the world and party, I’d like one of those jobs, thanks! Not to mention the first half of the movie that makes you want to plan a trip with your friends to Manali almost immediately. This movie is sure to give you some major travel FOMO or at least make you search for a job like Bunny’s.

Highway

Alia Bhatt with the 'Bakarwals', the local shepherds in Chandanwari, Kashmir.

Stockholm Syndrom aside, Highway felt like a window seat bus ride with a view of North India- from plains to snow clad mountains. It takes us on a journey to the remote Sangla Valley in Himachal Pradesh, Aru Valley near Pahalgam and the plains of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Punjab. The movie really is a breath of fresh air, nudging us to pack our bags and go on a journey to find ourselves.  This is one picturesque movie that’s sure to give every backpacker itchy feet.

Dil Chahta Hai

Dil Chahta Hai is the best ad film that’s made and probably will ever be made for Goa. It’s only fair to say, the movie did Goa tourism a huge favor, turning Goa into the quintessential college road trip destination even today. As a bonus, the second half of the movie gives a good glimpse of Sydney too! It’s called a cult classic for a reason and giving us major road tripping goals is just one the many reasons!

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge is popular for having made us fall in love with Rahul and Simran in reel life and Shahrukh Khan and Kajol in real life. But what we also fell in love with was the lavish landscapes of Europe that the movie depicts so beautifully. The movie shows us how traveling can bring people closer to one another (Case in point: Rahul and Simran- Best Jodi foreva!). And looking at the number of Indians that visit Switzerland till date, I’d say DDLJ certainly has a hand in inspiring Indian travelers.

These are our favourite Bollywood movies that’ll inspire you to plan that weekend getaway sooner! Do you have more to add to our list? Comment below!

8 Bollywood Heroines Who Would Make the Best Girlfriends

Alia Bhatt

We are all guilty of drawing out the “perfect” partner list at some point in our lives. So Amit Sahni isn’t the only one! And where else can we find what comes closest to perfection than in our very own Bollywood movies? Here is a list of the top 8 characters that we think would make the best girlfriends:

1. Ananya from 2 States: Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in '2 States'

2. Rani from Queen: Queen

3. Shruti Kakkar from Band Baaja Baaraat: Anushka Sharma

Behind every successful man is a woman. And she is definitely that woman! She’s smart, independent, level-headed and content and she is not one to get you to sacrifice your dreams. You want to travel the world? Go do it! She’s not going to be shedding tears to bog you down. No emotional blackmail? Whaaat? Yes, she’s the dream.

5. Meera from Love Aaj Kal:
Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan in Love Aaj Kal

Dating her is like dating the prettiest girl in class. You know once you have won her, you’re ready to put up with everything that comes with the prize. But with this one, there is no bullsh*t! That’s right – she’s easy-going, sexy, fun and everything you’ve ever wanted and so much more! And what’s more is she’s a one-man woman. If only you were that man…

6. Gayatri from Shuddh Desi Romance:
Parineeti Chopra

She is not going to be nagging you to go down on your knees! Well, at least not with a wedding ring ;) She is confident of herself and secure in the relationship. She likes to seize the day. So if you love to live in the present, away from all the conventions and worries of ‘where this is going?’, then she’s the girl for you.

7. Kavya from Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania:
Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania

Main toh paida hi hot hooyi thi‘. And boy, is she HOT! She oozes with oomph and is just the girl to turn your world upside down. And just when you think you can cast her off as materialistic, she chooses the adorable guy over the rich, picture perfect one. She is the kind of girl you would effortlessly fall head over heels in love with. We did :)

8. Geet from Jab We Met:
Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor in Jab We Met

Office – Home – Repeat. Everyone lives this life but if you’re dating this diva, then your world is a much happier place. Always full of zest, straight out from the movies with a twitch of crazy. Who wants the same old, boring relationship, right?

Deepika Padukone and Rana Daggubati

Yeh Jawaani hai Deewani will always be a film close to my heart. The film taught me a lot and even today manages to be a special one for me. While I can watch the film at any given point ( I was watching it last night, not even kidding bro), there was something related to the film that happened which touched my heart. Remember Rana Daggubati‘s cameo in the film? Even though the actor was present for 10 minutes on-screen, it was one of the best cameos I have ever witnessed and ever since then, I have wanted to see Deepika Padukone (Naina) and Rana (Vikram) together in one frame again! And it happened!

It was the closing ceremony of MAMI yesterday and while there were many present, my favourites Rana and Deepika met at the red carpet and there, I had my Vikram-Naina moment!

Check out the picture!
